Visiting Alberobello from a Cruise stop

I've been putting together my MUSC cruise photos and I'm so excited to share with you my first stop! We got to Venice (with no time at all to tour!) and hopped on the cruise and woke up the very next day in Brindisi, Italy. After arriving to the port of Brindisi we took a scenic coach ride (about an hour) through the Italian countryside to Alberobello, a town in the Apulia region that forms the top of the “heel” of the boot of Italy.

When we arrived - we saw what we've only seen in photos. Beautiful, white, round stone houses with conical grey roofs, known as “trulli.” We walked through the houses - admiring the village up to St. Antonio Church.

The total tour took about an hour an a half but we were craving gelato at this point. Word to the wise - this village is incredibly small - which means most shops don't take credit card! The only place that did was the local supermarket. We didn't exactly have the creamy gelato we were craving but we did have ice-cream! ;)

These little homes looked like they were out of a storybook!
